Options

Registered vs unregistered breeders

Tip: There’s a big difference between a breeder that is registered with council as a domestic animal business and one that isn’t.

Animal Welfare Victoria best option

Dogs Victoria or ANKC are second best

Anything else is not 🚫 a real registration 👎

we only work with breeders with a REAL registration, there is a lot of fake registration out there that are simply just a list of breeders and they dont inspect the breeders property, they only do a 5 minute “FaceTime” call and aren’t legit.

If adopting or purchasing Make sure you always:

Meet the mother and father of your puppy;

Visit where they were born (more than once if possible) if the breeder says no they are hiding something.

See the pup interacting with its mum and litter mates and; Check the breeder is registered.

Ask for vaccination records and vet records and microchip number

Check this PDF before visiting a breeder it has the standards for their facilities.

Ethical Buyers Guide

https://www.oscarslaw.org/ethical-dog-buyers-guide.htm

Never support unregistered unethical puppy mills. If you buy a puppy or dog from them it’s not rescuing them it’s encouraging them to continue unethical practices. Check on this list if they are registered.

Animal Welfare Victoria is the best option they have such strict standards only 11 breeders are on their list, the council sends inspectors once per year in person, if the breeder fails the inspection they lose their licence.

second best option if not with AWV
